PROJECT OVERVIEW
Beiersdorf Australia is a distributor and manufacturer of some of the world's leading brands of healthcare products, such as Nivea and Elastoplast. AWS was recently successful in supplying services to Beiersdorf for their distribution facility in Huntingwood, Sydney. Beiersdorf urgently needed to increase pallet storage positions in an already established warehouse.
The Challenge
Beiersdorf's warehouse & office facility in Huntingwood was seriously damaged by one of Sydney's worst hail storms in over a decade. Luckily, no one was injured during this storm, as it occurred late on a Saturday afternoon when no staff was present. It was decided that the office building and warehouse were to be demolished, and plans for a new building were to begin. However, this would take years to develop as Beiersdorf needed larger premises to sustain growth requirements.
Beiersdorf is regarded highly as an efficient supplier to their client base, which includes all the big names in retail distribution, such as Woolworths & Wesfarmers (Coles/Myer). Beiersdorf staff & management, including national distribution manager David Rodriguez and warehouse manager Jason Sacco, immediately set out on the task of collaborating on a warehouse relocation, salvage & supply of products to minimise the impact on orders placed by their clients.
This project was colossal, to say the least, as most of Beiersdorf's products were water-damaged and could not be salvaged, so working around the clock with product salvage and air & sea freight product orders was the norm for several weeks for the Beiersdorf team.
The Solution
Beiersdorf quickly found a suitable “short-term” warehouse for its operations; however, the existing Dexion pallet racking system did not suit its storage and order-picking requirements. Therefore, Beiersdorf set out to source market opinions on best-fit pallet racking solutions. AWS was invited to tender, and it was successful.
AWS is now working with Beiersdorf to complete a full mezzanine and office fit-out to house several office staff members, as the existing short-term premises office cannot accommodate existing Beiersdorf office staff.

With an installation time of just 1 week we completed this 418 m2 floor in Wetherill Park including two staircases, safety handrail along the front complete with sliding pallet access gates to the clients deadline.
This floor is doubling the area space for storage as racking can also be installed under the floor. Pallet racking will be installed on the floor holding product to be picked by employers ready for dispatch. The area of this floor is 418m2 doubling the area of the section of the warehouse to 836m2!
This structural floor is designed to hold 500 Kg/m2 providing plenty of storage ability for the customer. All our floors are custom designed so your floor can be engineered for 350 — 500 Kg/m2 or more depending on your needs!
